Why Brazilian Green Propolis?

Did you know that Brazilian Propolis is believed to be the best bee propolis in the world? It is renowned for its unique benefits and potency: it contains the largest amount of biologically available and unique variety of flavonoids. Brazilian Green Propolis comes from rich plant resources and an unpolluted natural environment.

Brasilian green propolis is collected and produced by the Africanized bees from Brazil. What makes it unique is its active ingredient Artepillin-C, an antioxidant with extremely potent anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal, hepatoprotective, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory and anti-ulcer properties activity.

Now its anti-cancerous effect is being studied internationally. Like any natural substance, its composition is directly dependent on different factors, such as its botanical origin and the environmental conditions of its development. Green propolis of Brazil (GPB) is the only one having in its composition 6 to 8% Artepillin C (ARC)

Research indicates that Artepillin C present in Brazilian green propolis has anti-cancerous effect by decreasing the frequency of pre-cancerous lesions, by inhibition of mitoses of cancerous cells and of angiogenesis within the tumor.

Essential Formulas has just brought a unique Propolis product to market. Not only does it contain Green Brazilian propolis with Flax Oil Omega-3s, but it also contains complete pre-biotic and probiotic support, and anti-inflammatory antioxidant Vitamin E and Astaxanthin.

Astaxanthin is a carotenoid. It belongs to a larger class of phytochemicals known as terpenes. Astaxanthin is produced by microalgae. Astaxanthin, unlike some carotenoids, does not convert to Vitamin A (retinol) in the human body. Too much Vitamin A is toxic for a human, but astaxanthin is not. However, it is a powerful antioxidant.
Astaxanthin is claimed to be 10 times more capable than other carotenoids.

There is simply no other single supplement product combination like this on the market today.

Gut Flora Helps Weight Loss

Losing weight without eating less or exercising more sounds too good to be true. But not if you get bacteria to do the work for you. We know that gut bacteria play a vital role in digestion. But now it seems that increasing levels of one type of human gut microbe can help people shed excess weight.

Yukio Kadooka and colleagues in Japan gave 87 overweight volunteers 100 grams of fermented milk - which is used to make yogurt - twice a day, while they continued with their normal diets. The milk drunk by half of the group was enriched with Lactobacillus gasseri. After 12 weeks, these volunteers had lost an average of 1 kilogram, while their counterparts showed no change in weight.

Scans revealed that they had lost 4.6 per cent of their "bad", visceral fat, which surrounds internal organs and is implicated in metabolic syndrome, and 3.3 per cent of their subcutaneous fat. Hip and waist circumference also went down by an average of 1.7 and 1.5 centimetres respectively The bacteria may cause weight loss by inhibiting fat absorption in the intestine, says Kadooka.

  • Copper reduces the spread of germs.

Dr. Tom Elliott, MD, consultant microbiologist and deputy medical director, University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, Birmingham, England, and lead researcher of a study presented at the Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, reports that on a busy medical ward, copper door push plates and toilet seats had 90% to 100% fewer bacteria than similar items made of aluminum and plastic. Research has shown that the flu virus, E. coli and the MRSA and C. difficile superbugs do not survive on copper surfaces.

  • Breast cancer patients remaining at least 5 years cancer-free have less chance of recurring cancer within 10 years.

Dr. Abenaa Brewster, MD, assistant professor, clinical cancer prevention and epidemiology, University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, and lead author of a study published in Journal of the National Cancer Institute reports that breast cancer patients who remain cancer-free for at least five years after aggressive treatment have only a 7%-to-13% likelihood that their cancer will recur within 10 years. Estrogen-dependent breast cancers are more likely to return than nonestrogen-dependent cancers.

  • Aspirin may protect the liver against damage from acetaminophen and other drugs.

This potent anti-inflammatory also may protect against liver disease resulting from alcohol, obesity and other causes. Clinical trials are needed to confirm aspirin's liver-protecting benefits. Future possibility: Medicines could be formulated containing both acetaminophen and enough aspirin to ward off possible liver damage.

Based on a study by Wajahat Z. Mehal, MD, associate professor, section of digestive diseases, Yale School of Medicine, New Haven, Connecticut, and leader of a study of aspirin's effect on liver damage, published in Journal of Clinical Investigation.

  • Migraine and insomnia are linked in some people.

Dr. Alan M. Rapoport, MD., a neurologist and clinical professor of neurology, David Geffen School of Medicine at University of California, Los Angeles, and founder and director-emeritus of New England Center for Headache, Stamford, Connecticut, reports that transformed, or chronic, migraine--a type of migraine that occurs in people who get headaches more than 15 days a month--often is triggered by inadequate sleep or changes in the sleep/wake cycle. Examples: Jet lag, especially after flights of five hours or more... getting too much sleep one day while trying to make up for a sleep deficit on other days.

Self-defense: Go to bed and get up at the same time seven days a week. Avoid coffee, tea and exercise close to bedtime.
