How does VSL#3 and Visbiome compare?
Visbiome contains the same strains, in the same concentrations and proportions, as, is therapeutically equivalent to, and can be considered a generic of, the VSL#3®* probiotic blend as produced before January 31, 2016.

Professor Claudio De Simone, M.D. invented a proprietary blend of probiotic strains (the “De Simone Formulation”) in the mid-1990s. He collaborated with VSL Pharmaceuticals, Inc. to produce as well as market his formulation as ‘VSL#3,’ a trademark that is owned by VSL Pharmaceuticals, Inc.

In 2014, Professor De Simone made the decision to leave VSL Pharmaceuticals and presently he is collaborating with ExeGi Pharma, LLC who now produces Visbiome, a probiotic formula that uses the same proprietary blend of probiotic strains that the original De Simone Formulation that he invented. The De Simone Formulation, which is contained in Visbiome, is one of the most extensively studied probiotics formulas that has over sixty published human clinical studies.

Visbiome is made in the U.S.A

Depending on your condition, consume 1-8 packets daily as directed by your physician.

Mix into 3-6 oz. cold water or any cold, non-carbonated beverage, yogurt or applesauce
Stir contents until mixed
Promptly drink all contents (mixture may settle on bottom of glass over time)
Do not mix in anything warm

Probiotics are often recommended to be taken in the morning on an empty stomach. However, there is not a recommended time of day to take Visbiome, so you may wish to follow your personal preference and consult with your healthcare provider when making this determination.

You may experience bloating during the first few days after starting Visbiome as your intestinal microflora changes. If this occurs, you may need to reduce daily consumption to allow for adjustment.

6-11 years old: 1/2 - 1 packet
12-17 years old: 1 - 2 packets

Visbiome is gluten-free and kosher.

Visbiome contains lactose (less than 0.1g per 100g) and dehydrated skim milk or milk protein (casein and beta-lacto globulin of less than 2mg/kg) may be present in trace amounts.

Dairy Status of Visbiome:    The strains of beneficial probiotic bacteria in Visbiome are highly concentrated natural yogurt bacteria. These bacteria are fermented using some dairy ingredients to ensure their health and vitality. 

During the manufacturing process this fermentation “medium” is separated from the bacteria, but some trace levels may remain which contain dairy components. The level of dairy is extremely small but could have implications for some people with sensitivity to dairy.

Please consult with your healthcare professional if you have sensitivity to dairy and are considering Visbiome. Visbiome contains less than the following amounts of the dairy components lactose
