Prebiotics and Probiotics Use on the Rise

The Probiota Americas Conference in Chicago shared a lot of new information.

One related to a survey by AIDP that measured consumers’ use of prebiotics and probiotics.

What Did We Learn?

The report stated, that “in a poll of 400 dietary supplement users, it was revealed that more than 38% would be very likely or somewhat likely to try a prebiotic with strong digestive and immune health benefits, if the product were science-validated by a research conducted at and published by a major university.”

The survey also showed that 44% of these consumers had tried a probiotic supplement.

Other results showed that more than 60% of respondents would be interested in buying a product that contained both a prebiotic and a probiotic.

Thurston, one of the researchers said this reflects the rapidly developing body of scientific research leading to a better understanding of the role of these ingredients in digestive and immune wellness.

The IPA World Congress + Probiota Americas 2017 is now inviting abstracts for the Scientific Frontiers sessions at the conference.

Successful abstracts will have the opportunity to be selected for a short oral presentation (10 minutes) or a poster at the conference.

Abstracts must be received by March 31, 2017 in order to be considered for an oral presentation

They are looking for abstracts presenting the latest state-of-the-art developments related to any aspects of prebiotic, probiotic and microbiome science,  particularly interested in reports from human intervention studies.

You can read more about the abstract requirements here.
