Ulcerative Colitis is an inflammatory bowel disease that typically causes mild to severe abdominal pain, as well as cramping and diarrhea that may or may not contain blood. The degree to which Ulcerative Colitis affects one suffering from the disease varies from patient to patient, as do the factors that cause flare ups. Experts have yet to conclusively link any specific foods or lifestyles as contributing factors to Ulcerative Colitis contraction, though they believe that the three main factors that play a role in the development of such a disease include genetics, environment and immune system.
