Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America

There’s a terrific resource available for those who have Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, or any other type of IBD called the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA). If you are new to IBD, or you are just checking out your options, CCFA has a ton of information for you to explore.

Become a CCFA member, and get your card.

When you join CCFA as a member, you are immediately brought into the loop about the latest advances in the field of IBD research. The CCFA network has a broad community to network with, great links to resources, and many means to access local Crohn’s support groups and IBS medication. Plus, you’ll receive the Crohn’s-centric publication “Under the Microscope.” Best of all, when you sign up, you will receive the coveted “I can’t wait” card that provides you with access to restrooms anytime and anywhere.

Get involved in local events and CCFA’s Awareness Week.

Throughout the country, there are local events happening to raise awareness about Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, and other IBD conditions. The CCFA website (CCFA.org) has national and community calendars to tell you what’s going on, as well as a bulletin board so you can contact people in your area about current events. CCFA’s Awareness Week takes place the first week of December (Dec 1st through 7th), so be sure to check out the resources available to raise awareness.

Download the CCFA GI Buddy app to manage your condition.

There is an amazing app available on iTunes to help with Crohn’s and Colitis called the GI Buddy. It’s simple to use, allowing you to track what you eat, your symptoms and outcomes, emotional factors, and missed medications. The app also has support tools like medication reminders and question logs for your next meeting with your GI doctor. Finally, the GI Buddy keeps track of your medical history, medications, and all of your medical contact info. And just in case you don’t have an iPhone, there is a website that functions like the GI Buddy app as well.

Head over to CCFA’s website and see all it have to offer today!
