Q: What is Fruits of Life?
A: Fruits of Life is a delicious, proprietary blend of USDA certified organic whole fruits that naturally provides a wide range of rich antioxidant support.*
Q: How is Improved Fruits of Life formula different?
A: Both formulas are an excellent source of antioxidants. The main difference is that improved Fruits of Life now contains whole fruits that are USDA certified organic, plus we have added organic Oat Bran Fiber and organic Acerola Cherry for their beneficial properties.
Q: What does the "USDA Organic" seal mean?
A: The United States Department of Agriculture, or USDA, is a United States Federal Executive Department whose purpose is to develop and execute policy on farming, agriculture, and food. Farm and processing operations that grow and process organic foods must be certified by USDA-accredited certifying agents. A certified operation may label its products or ingredients as organic and may use the "USDA Organic" seal.
Garden of Life has been using organic ingredients wherever possible; however, it is not always possible to buy the ingredients we need with organic certification as they may come from overseas, therefore not being US organic. Where this is the case, we select ingredients that are produced without the use of pesticides, herbicides, antibiotics or other chemical agents; these ingredients are tested for contaminants.
Garden of Life is actively working towards offering more certified organic products. Their distribution facility has received USDA Organic certification for their USDA organic bars; improved Fruits of Life is also USDA organic certified. Garden of Life strives to incorporate the "USDA Organic" seal on as many of their product labels as possible.
Q: What are antioxidants and why do I need them?
A: Antioxidants are compounds and substances found in fruits and vegetables that inhibit oxidation and may deactivate free radicals. Free radicals are unstable, destructive molecules that can cause cellular damage, which form naturally as a result of normal metabolic processes. Give your body antioxidant support with improved Fruits of Life.*
Q: Are there any new ingredients in improved Fruits of Life?
A: Yes, Garden of Life added organic Oat Bran Fiber that provides betaglucan to promote a healthy heart.* Organic Acerola Cherry has been included for its naturally occurring Vitamin C and bioflavonoids to support normal immune system health. *
Q: Has Garden of Life removed any ingredients from Fruits of Life?
A: Yes, Garden of Life has removed the fermented whey and calcified red algae, which were a small percentage of the original formula. The product now has a better taste and improved palatability to appeal to a wider range of consumers.
Q: How is improved Fruits of Life made?
A: Each organic fruit in improved Fruits of Life has been carefully selected and freeze-dried, a gentle process that allows the fruit to maintain its nutrient content, fiber and great taste. Evidence suggests that freeze-dried fruits may contain a higher content of antioxidants and a higher content of flavor compounds compared with products that have been dried by conventional hot air methods.
Q: What are the benefits of whole fruits?
A: Whole fruits have high nutritional integrity because they contain nutrients and other beneficial compounds, as found in whole foods. We were designed to eat whole foods that contain the necessary proteins, fats, carbohydrates, fiber, enzymes, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and other nutrients our body needs for proper nourishment and health.
